Materials (PTFE)
A complete fitting, splicing and repair service for our range.
PTFE & Silicone Coated Materials
Inert Belting & Materials Ltd supplies an extensive range of PTFE and silicone-coated industrial materials, available in a wide selection of thicknesses, widths, substrates and coating levels. Our Materials range covers products supplied primarily as full-width rolls or sheet material, rather than finished process conveyor belts or slit tapes. Many of these materials can subsequently be converted into belts, tapes, liners, covers and other components to suit specific applications.
With materials available from approximately 0.050mm to 0.9mm thick and in widths of up to 5 metres, we can provide solutions for a broad range of industrial processes. Self-adhesive versions are also available with silicone or acrylic pressure-sensitive adhesives.
PTFE & Silicone Coated Fabrics
The majority of our coated materials are manufactured using a woven glass fabric substrate, selected for its excellent strength, dimensional stability and temperature resistance. We can also offer specialist substrates including Nomex® and Kevlar® for applications requiring different mechanical or thermal properties. Our materials are classified according to several key characteristics:
- Substrate and weave construction
- Glass fabric grade
- PTFE or silicone coating type
- Coating weight and level
- Finished material thickness
- Surface and release characteristics
These combinations allow us to offer materials ranging from lightweight, porous fabrics through to heavily coated, exceptionally smooth premium grades. Selecting the correct material can significantly improve release performance, product life and overall production efficiency.
Material Grades
Porous Grades
Our Porous Grade materials combine woven glass substrates with relatively low levels of PTFE coating. The controlled open structure allows air and volatile gases to pass through the material, making these grades particularly suitable for applications involving drying, curing and airflow.
Typical applications include:
- Drying processes
- Curing systems
- Air circulation applications
- Release surfaces requiring controlled porosity
Industrial Grades
Our Industrial Grade materials combine woven glass fabric with medium levels of PTFE coating. They provide a reliable and cost-effective solution for general industrial applications, particularly where operating conditions are less demanding or where regular material replacement forms part of the production process. Industrial grades offer a practical balance between performance, durability and cost.
Standard Grades
Our Standard Grade materials feature higher levels of PTFE coating over a woven glass substrate. The additional PTFE provides an improved non-stick and release surface, making these materials suitable for more demanding process applications.
Their increased durability can help:
- Extend material service life
- Reduce replacement frequency
- Improve release performance
- Reduce production downtime
- Improve overall process efficiency
Standard grades provide an excellent choice for applications requiring a balance of performance, durability and value.
Premium Grades
Our Premium Grade materials combine a fully twisted woven glass substrate with high levels of PTFE coating. The twisted glass yarn construction allows increased levels of PTFE to be applied while enhancing the material’s mechanical and electrical characteristics.
Benefits include:
- Excellent dimensional stability
- Improved tensile strength
- Enhanced dielectric properties
- Superior release characteristics
- Increased durability
- Smooth, high-gloss surface finish
The higher PTFE content creates an exceptionally smooth, high-performance non-stick surface, making Premium Grades particularly suitable for demanding industrial processes where consistent release and extended service life are essential.
Anti-Static Grades
Our Anti-Static Grade materials combine woven glass fabric with a specially formulated carbon-black PTFE coating. This creates a conductive surface designed to help dissipate static electricity, making these materials suitable for applications where static build-up could interfere with production or product handling. Anti-static materials can be supplied in both standard and self-adhesive configurations, depending on the application.
Self-Adhesive Materials
Selected materials can be supplied with a pressure-sensitive adhesive backing, allowing them to be installed directly onto machinery, process surfaces and other equipment.
Two principal adhesive systems are available:
Silicone Adhesive
Suitable for applications requiring excellent temperature resistance and dependable adhesion across a broad operating range.
Acrylic Adhesive
Provides higher initial tack where strong immediate adhesion is required, although its maximum operating temperature is lower than that of silicone adhesive. Our Technical Sales Team can advise on the most appropriate adhesive system for your operating conditions.
Material Conversion & Supply
Materials can be supplied in full-width rolls or converted to suit individual customer requirements, subject to the selected material grade and required quantity. Our extensive range of substrates, coatings, thicknesses and widths enables us to provide material for applications across numerous industries, including food processing, packaging, textiles, composites, plastics, printing, drying, curing and general manufacturing.
