Tapes

Our range of PTFE and silicone tape products for industrial applications.

PTFE & Silicone Tapes

PTFE & Silicone Tapes

Inert Belting & Materials Ltd supplies a comprehensive range of PTFE and silicone tape products for demanding industrial applications. Our tape range is available in both non-adhesive and self-adhesive formats, with a choice of materials, grades and adhesive systems to suit different operating conditions.

Our core products are manufactured from PTFE-coated woven glass fabric, providing excellent release properties, temperature resistance and durability.

We also supply unsupported PTFE film tapes manufactured from Skived Virgin PTFE and Oriented (High Modulus) PTFE, available in both non-adhesive and self-adhesive versions.

Non-Adhesive & Self-Adhesive PTFE Tapes

Our non-adhesive range includes:

  • PTFE-coated woven glass fabric
  • Skived Virgin PTFE film
  • Oriented (High Modulus) PTFE film

To manufacture our self-adhesive products, one surface of the PTFE material is specially treated (etched) to allow a high-temperature, pressure-sensitive adhesive to bond securely to the surface.

Silicone adhesive is our most commonly used adhesive system and provides an excellent operating temperature range of -73°C to +260°C.

For applications requiring greater initial tack, selected products are also available with acrylic adhesive. Acrylic provides significantly higher tack than silicone, with a maximum operating temperature of approximately +170°C.

Acrylic adhesive can also be supplied on unsupported PTFE film tapes where order volumes justify a production run.

Conversion & Supply

Our modern in-house conversion equipment allows us to slit tape rolls to widths as narrow as 3mm, enabling us to supply material to suit a wide variety of machinery and applications. All self-adhesive tapes are fully shrink-wrapped to help protect the adhesive from dust, contamination and atmospheric conditions during storage. Correct storage is important for maintaining adhesive performance and shelf life. For technical information on our non-adhesive products, please refer to our Materials section.

Industrial Grade Self-Adhesive PTFE Tape

Our Industrial Grade range is manufactured from PTFE-coated woven glass fabric with a medium level of PTFE coating. It provides a practical and cost-effective solution for less demanding applications, particularly where tapes require regular replacement as part of normal operating or maintenance procedures. One side of the material is etched before the application of a high-temperature, pressure-sensitive silicone adhesive.

Operating temperature: -73°C to +260°C

Available grades:
I-SA-05 · I-SA-06 · I-SA-10

Standard Grade Self-Adhesive PTFE Tape

Our Standard Grade range combines a woven glass substrate with higher levels of PTFE coating, creating a smoother and more effective non-stick surface. Designed for more demanding applications, the increased PTFE content can help extend service life and reduce replacement frequency, improving overall process efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

One side is etched and coated with a high-temperature silicone adhesive for secure installation.

Available grades:
S-SA-03 · S-SA-05 · S-SA-06 · S-SA-10 · S-SA-14

Premium Grade Self-Adhesive PTFE Tape

Our Premium Grade products are designed for applications requiring enhanced performance and durability. They combine a fully twisted woven glass substrate with high levels of PTFE coating. The twisted glass yarn construction allows greater quantities of PTFE to be applied while improving key performance characteristics, including:

  • Dimensional stability
  • Tensile strength
  • Dielectric properties
  • Release performance
  • Surface smoothness

The result is a super-smooth, high-gloss PTFE surface with excellent performance characteristics.

One side is etched to accept a high-temperature silicone adhesive.

Available grades:
P-SA-03 · P-SA-05 · P-SA-06 · P-SA-10 · P-SA-14

Anti-Static Self-Adhesive PTFE Tape

Our Anti-Static Grade combines woven glass fabric with a specially formulated carbon-black PTFE coating. The resulting conductive surface helps dissipate static electricity, making these products particularly suitable for applications where static build-up needs to be controlled.

Typical applications include conveyor support bed covers, surface coverings and spray-coating processes.

Available grades:
AS-SA-03 · AS-SA-05 · AS-SA-06 · AS-SA-10 · AS-SA-14

Acrylic Adhesive PTFE Tape

For applications requiring higher initial tack, we offer a range of PTFE-coated woven glass tapes with acrylic adhesive. The PTFE surface is etched on one side before the acrylic pressure-sensitive adhesive is applied. Acrylic provides considerably higher tack than our standard silicone adhesive, making it useful where stronger initial adhesion is required.

The trade-off is a lower maximum operating temperature.

Maximum operating temperature: +170°C

Available grades:
AC-SA-03 · AC-SA-05 · AC-SA-06 · AC-SA-10

PTFE Zone Tapes

Our Zone Tapes are manufactured from PTFE-coated woven glass fabric with adhesive applied only along the outer edges. This leaves a central section of PTFE fabric completely free from adhesive. Zone tapes are commonly used over impulse sealing element wires, where adhesive beneath the active area could contaminate the element or interfere with the sealing process.

Understanding Zone Tape Sizes

Zone tape widths are specified using the total width of the roll, rather than just the adhesive-free usable area. For example, a 50mm-wide tape with 10mm of adhesive on each edge provides a 30mm adhesive-free centre section:

10mm adhesive / 30mm clear zone / 10mm adhesive

This would be specified as 10/30/10.

Most zone tapes use 10mm adhesive strips on each edge and are available using either 3 thou or 5 thou PTFE-coated fabric, depending on the application.

Need Help Choosing the Right PTFE Tape?

With different PTFE constructions, coating levels, adhesive systems and thicknesses available, selecting the correct tape can make a significant difference to performance and service life. Contact Inert Belting & Materials Ltd with details of your application, operating temperature, required width and working conditions, and our team can help identify the most suitable product.
